TYPES OF HERBAL MEDICINE

COMPRESS-a cloth soaked in an herbal infusion & pressed over a wound. Chamomile, eyebright, devils claw
DECOCTION-a hot or cold drink made by boiling twigs & roots, echinecea, couchgrass, bearberry
INFUSION-a hot or cold drink made from leaves & flowers of herbs, ginseng, nettle, clove, feverfew
OINTMENT-a cream infused with the juice or oils of herbs, lavender, calendula, roses, st. johns wort
POULTICE-a bag of herbs that is pressed over the affected area, sage, borage, plantain, marshmallow
SYRUP-a decoction or infusion sweetened with honey or sugar, rosemary, sage, thyme, eucalyptus
TONIC-a drink that stimulates the lympatic system & blood circulation, gotu kola, ginkgo, devils claw
TEA-herbs steeped in boiling water, dandelion, vervain, skullcap, st johns wort, passion flower, lemonbalm
